Upshift Youth Empowerment Initiative
Our transformative programs bringing hope, creativity, and nourishment to the children and youth of Buikwe, Uganda.
Many children and youth in marginalized communities lack opportunities for creative expression, which can affect their confidence, emotional well-being, and social skills. The Music, Dance and Drama program addresses this by providing a safe space where participants: Learn and practice dance routines to express emotions and boost confidence. Engage in music sessions, including singing and instrument playing, to develop creativity and collaboration. Participate in drama and acting workshops to enhance communication, storytelling, and self-esteem. Showcase their talents through performances and community events, building pride and a sense of accomplishment. By combining these activities, the program fosters emotional resilience, social skills, and a sense of belonging, while offering a positive outlet for self-expression. It is more than talent development it is a pathway to happiness, confidence, and empowerment for youth.
"Upshift is my happy place because I dance with the hope of becoming something big in the future."
— Twaibu, a program participantBuikwe, Central Uganda
In Uganda, Creative Arts are often underestimated in schools — with many unaware of their critical role in a child's development. Research shows arts education has a lasting positive impact, enhancing academic achievement, social skills, emotional well-being, and future economic opportunities.
Upshift provides children in Buikwe with access to a safe, supportive space where they can explore painting, drawing, sculpting, and crafting — unlocking their potential and nurturing self-expression.
In Uganda, malnutrition steals more than health — it robs children of their
future and traps families in poverty. Our feeding program provides nourishment,
hope, and a chance for children to grow, learn, and thrive.
Every meal is a step toward breaking the cycle of hunger and giving families
a brighter tomorrow.
